【摘要】:Thisguideprovidesinformationandguidelinesforconsiderationbythedesignerorapplicatorofajointseal.Itexplainsthepropertiesandfunctionsofvariousmaterials,suchassealant,sealantbacking,andprimer,amongothers;and,proceduressuchas,substratecleaningandpriming,andinstallationofthecomponentsofasealedjoint.Itpresentsguidelinesfortheuseandapplicationofthevariousmaterials,designofasealantjointforaspecificapplication,andenvironmentalconditionsandeffectsthatareknowntodetrimentallyaffectasealantjoint.Theinformationandguidelinesarealsousefulforthosethatsupplyaccessoriestothesealantindustryandforthosethatinstallsealantsandaccessorymaterialsassociatedwithsealantuse.Inadditiontothedesignandinstallationdatainthisguide,consultthesealantmanufactureraboutapplicationsforitsproductsandtheirproperuseandinstallation.Consideringtherangeofpropertiesofcommerciallyavailablesealants,thevarietyofjointdesignspossible,andthemanyconditionsofuse,theinformationcontainedhereinisgeneralinnature.Itshouldberealizedthatasealantandsealantjointareexpectedtohaveadesignlifeduringwhichtheyremainfunctional.However,asealantandsealantjointwillalsohaveaservicelife.Theintentisforservicelifetomeetorexceeddesignlife.Therearemanyfactorsthatcanaffectservicelifeincludingtypeofsealantpolymer,sealantformulation,compatibilitywithadjacentmaterials,installationtechniquesordeficiencies,sealantjointdesign(orlackthereof),propermaintenance(orlackthereof),andenvironmentalexposure,amongothers.Thedesignerofajointsealshouldtaketheaboveintoconsiderationwhendesigningandspecifyingsealantsforcertainapplications.Thedesignlifeofasealantorsealantjointshouldbeconsideredinconjunctionwiththedesignlifeofthestructureforwhichitisused.Forexample,abuildingownermayrequireanewcourthousebuildingtohaveanexpecteddesignlifeof50years.Therefore,elementsofthebuilding''sexteriorenvelopeshould,withpropermaintenance,beexpectedtoperformforthattimeperiod.Asaresultoftheinformationin4.3itshouldberealizedthatasealantorsealantjointmaynotperformforthattimeperiodwithoutpropermaintenance.Propermaintenancecouldincludereplacementoflocalizedsealantandsealantjointfailuresandconceivablycompletesealantreplacement,perhapsmorethanonce,duringthat50yeartimeperioddependingonasealant''spolymerbaseanditsparticularformulation.Sealantreplacementneedstobeconsideredandwhenneededshouldbeeasilyaccomplished.Toassisttheuseroftheguideinlocatingspecificinformation,adetailedlistingofguidenumberedsectionsandtheirdescriptorsareincludedinAppendixX2.1.1Thisguidedescribestheuseofacoldliquid-appliedsealantforjointsealingapplications.Includingjointsonbuildingsandrelatedadjacentareas,suchasplazas,decks,andpavementsforvehicularorpedestrianuse,andtypesofconstructionotherthanhighwaysandairfieldpavementsandbridges.Informationinthisguideisprimarilyapplicabletoasingleandmulti-component,coldliquid-appliedjointsealantandsecondarilytoaprecuredsealantwhenusedwithaproperlypreparedjointopeningandsubstratesurfaces.1.2Anelastomericornon-elastomericsealantdescribedbythisguideshouldmeettherequirementsofSpecificationC834,C920,orC1311.1.3Thisguidedoesnotprovideinformationorguidelines......
